Business, People, and Community – Navigating what’s important and what’s hard with Ray Dib.

In his own words, Ray Dib, Co-Founder of MyBond and ex Chairman of the NRL Canterbury Bulldogs, says that he had “experienced hardships” growing up and was told that he couldn’t achieve his goals in both his personal life as well as his career. His accomplishments in both aspects, beg to differ and this could easily be one of the reasons why his drive to service the community has been strewn across every business he has worked in or owned.

So, how has Ray achieved ‘Outperformer’ status by combining business, people and community and how has he navigated what’s important and what’s hard? Find out, in the following highlights from our podcast, Real Talk With Outperformers, where Brad Eisenhuth unpacks Ray’s pursuit of success.

Accepting people live by different values
Ray attributes the acceptance of differing values and boundaries to making his relationships easier and more respectful.

Failing is a great thing
“If you’re not failing, you’re not succeeding” is one of the philosophies that Ray lives and works by. This partnered with his belief that the same mistake shouldn’t be made twice, has been one of the monumental forces in running his businesses for over a combined 30 years.

A holistic support process
In his time with the Bulldogs, Ray talks about the holistic support provided to the players by the club and Welfare Officers. Extraordinary were made to take care of players’ partners and children wherever possible and even providing employment assistance to their extended “Happy family, happy footballer, success on the field” Ray says.

Hierarchy for decision making
Club first, Team Second and Individuals last – this is how the decision making process was influenced during Ray’s tenure with the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs and a mantra he still uses today in his business, MyBond which he co-founded.

Helping people in need through MyBond
For Ray, the desire and drive to help people and the community is not limited to the people who in his business. The company he co-founded, MyBond was developed to help people secure a property to lease by allowing them to pay off their bond (usually a month’s advance) over 10 weeks.

Supporting staff with their personal goals, helps them add value to your business
Mentioned a few times in the podcast, Ray talks about how he and his management team at MyBond and other businesses, have been able to identify and accommodate the personal goals of staff by financing their requirements and supporting them on their journey as well. The results are not only shown in their peoples’ health and lifestyle, but also in their performance in the businesses.
